Dental Botox

Botox is not just used to smooth out the wrinkles or age lines on your face. Now you can receive Botox treatment for dental issues like teeth grinding, TMJ and, migraine headaches associated with dental issues.

What is Botox?

Botox (botulinum toxin) is a purified protein used to treat cosmetic concerns, dental issues and medical problems. Most medical professionals prefer Botulinum toxin A which is the safest and most widely used form of Botox. When Botox is injected, the protein attaches to nerve endings stops nerve transmission and muscles from contracting. If the Botox is being used for cosmetic purposes, it will stop the wrinkles. If it used for dental issues like teeth grinding or TMJ it stops the pain and symptoms associated with these issues.

Using Botox for Dental Issues

Dr. David Rever has completed advanced training for administering Botox Treatment to not only address your cosmetic concerns but your dental issues as well. If you grind or clench your teeth at night, you more than likely have a condition call bruxism, also known as teeth grinding. Teeth grinding can cause serious damage to your mouth and jaw. While there are other tooth restoration options that will provide a long-term fix, a Dental Botox injection can provide relief and stop further damage to your teeth and mouth. The Botox is injected into your jaw muscle and it relaxes the muscle and can actually rid you of your teeth grinding issues.

If you suffer from jaw pain or hear a clicking or popping sound when you chew, chances are you have TMJ (temporomandibular joint). Stress is the main cause of TMJ. High levels of stress can cause your body to experience joint pain, body aches, and even migraines. Because Botox is a muscle relaxer, it can reduce the muscle contractions that cause TMJ, along with headaches, migraines or body and joint pain. It can also block migraines from occurring for months at a time.

Botox Dermal Fillers

Dr. Rever can also perform Botox injections for certain cosmetic issues such as forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet. Also, he can pair Botox with dermal fillers to treat the lines around your mouth. Dermal fillers are natural gels that help smooth the skin. Filler treatments create a natural fullness around the mouth and help to enhance your smile.

Keep in mind that Dental Botox may last for several months. It is temporary and you may have to get additional treatments but that far outweighs the suffering caused by other dental or medical issues. If you have been considering Botox or need teeth grinding or TMJ therapy contact Advanced Total Dental Care for a consultation.
